MAUI, Hawai‘i – Atlas Experiences – in conjunction with their 5-day buyout of the Hyatt Regency Maui – graciously donated the Royal Ka‘anapali golf course to the Lahaina Junior Golf Association last week. From this, the Lahaina Junior Golf Parent & Child Kickoff Tournament enabled 132 players to compete in a special two-person scramble with one child and one adult per team. Lunches were provided by Roy’s.

“We’d like to express our sincere thanks to Atlas for donating the golf course back to the Lahaina Junior Golf Association,” said Susan Havens, director of sales and marketing at Ka‘anapali Golf Courses. “Their goodwill allowed West Maui families to create memories at Ka‘anapali that will last a lifetime.”

That evening, Atlas’ guests were treated to a surprise concert by former Hootie & The Blowfish leadman and country music star, Darius Rucker, on the fifth fairway of Royal Ka‘anapali.

The Lahaina Junior Golf Association – one of Hawaii’s leading youth sports programs – celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. The nonprofit focuses on educating life skills through golf, while offering a pathway for juniors to play many of the state’s premier courses. In 2021, Ka‘anapali and Kapalua’s parent company, Troon, donated over 200 tee times, discounted range balls and four paid work internships to juniors on Maui.

About Ka’anapali Golf Courses

Built on 300 acres of land once home to Hawaiian royalty, Ka‘anapali Golf Courses present golfers with pristine conditions and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and West Maui Mountains.

Opened in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the par-71, 6,700-yard Royal Ka‘anapali Course features wide fairways and undulating greens which make it both distinctive and demanding. The tournament-tested layout played host to the Champions Tour Ka‘anapali Classic for 14 years, Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf, the Canada Cup and LPGA Kemper Open, welcoming Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Jan Stephenson, Betsy King and other legends.

Complementing the Royal Ka‘anapali Course is the modernized Ka‘anapali Kai Course, which hosted Golf Channel’s “Big Break Ka‘anapali” in 2008. Extensively renovated in 2005, the 6,400-yard, par-70 layout boasts an array of strategically placed bunkers, contoured fairways and resurfaced greens.
