Ka’anapali Golf Resort pairs up with Sheraton Maui Resort & Westin Maui Resort & Spa to host Big Break Ka’anapali

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2008) – GOLF CHANNEL producers were faced with the daunting task of finding the perfect balance of stunning scenery and world-class golf facilities to serve as the backdrop for the latest, ladies-only installment of Big Break. After months of searching, the production team was lured by the beautiful beaches and sultry surf that can only be found in Hawaii, and said ‘Aloha’ to Ka’anapali.

The Ka’anapali Golf Resort, host to The Champions Tour’s Wendy's Champions SKINS GAME, boasts two scenic 18-hole golf courses – both of which were used for the filming of Big Break Ka’anapali, and two world class hotels, the Sheraton Maui Resort and the Westin Maui Resort & Spa.

With 36 holes of championship golf, the Ka'anapali Golf Resort has 45 years of tournament history and has hosted the Champions Tour Ka'anapali Classic, the LPGA's Kemper Open, the Canada Cup, and Shell's Wonderful World of Golf.

The Royal Ka'anapali Course, a Trent Jones design, is a demanding par 71 course with large undulating greens and has tested the skills of Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Lee Trevino and Jan Stephenson. The Ka'anapali Kai Course, a par 70, is a shot maker's delight with the focus on strategy and club selection, with beautiful panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and neighboring islands from every vantage point.

Ka'anapali is a three-mile stretch of beach that has been touted as one of the best beaches on Maui, and even in America. Long ago, these sands and lush gardens were enjoyed by Hawaiian kings and queens who sought a relaxing, rejuvenating retreat. The land itself was once comprised of green sugar
cane and taro plants, grown with the help of the Maui sun and a freshwater spring. This magical spot is steeped in culture, from when it was used as a training ground for Hawaiian warriors in ancient times, to the romantic days of "Old Hawaii" in the '30s and '40s, to the present.

Sheraton Maui Resort is situated at historic Pu`u Keka`a, Black Rock on Ka`anapali Beach on the island of Maui. Sprawled over 23 acres of tropical landscaping, 83 percent of the hotel's 510 rooms and suites face the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The Sheraton Maui Resort’s unparalleled location on Ka`anapali Beach combined with the dramatic backdrop and history of Black Rock is the perfect playground for the romance, family, active travel and incentive travelers. Sheraton Maui Resort has been named to TRAVEL & LEISURE Magazine's list of the top 25 hotels in 2003 and 2006. The property has also been named to the list of the top 500 hotels and resorts in the world in 2005.

Sheraton Maui is owned by Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts LP. and managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Sheraton Maui is one of six Sheraton hotels in Hawaii.

Located on 12 oceanfront acres along Ka'anapali Beach, the Westin Maui Resort & Spa is nestled between the shimmering Pacific Ocean and verdant West Maui mountains. Each of the 758 guest rooms and suites feature Westin's signature Heavenly Beds and Heavenly Baths. A key award-winning feature at this tropical resort is the magnificent aquatic playground with five pools, a 128-ft waterslide and swim through grotto set amidst lush landscaped gardens with meandering streams, 15 to 20 foot cascading waterfalls and exotic wildlife. It was awarded the best pool in Maui (number two in North America) by Trip Advisor in 2006. The resort has also been a recipient of a host of awards including the AAA Four Diamond Award, Smart Meetings Platinum Choice, Resorts & Great Hotels Connoisseurs Choice, Travel+Leisure’s Great Hotels in the World and America's Best Family Travel Establishments by Zagat Survey.

Distinctive amenities available at the resort include delightful dining at the oceanfront Tropica Restaurant, spa indulgences at the 15,000 square-foot full service Heavenly Spa by Westin, a 24-hour Westin Workout Center powered by Reebok, Westin Kids Club and its exciting Discovery Program, weekly Wailele Polynesian Luau and the Westin Unwind Ritual held evenings with varied Hawaiian arts and culture. The resort is also within walking distance of shops, sights of attraction and the 36-hole championship Ka'anapali Golf Course. With its genuine aloha service, the world-class Westin Maui
Resort & Spa prides itself on being the place "Where Heaven and Aloha Meet™."
