Raises $4,000 towards the Wounded Warrior Project
Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii – Ka’anapali Golf Courses was one of 100+ Billy Casper Golf (BCG) courses to participate in the 2015 World’s Largest Golf Outing today nationwide. Over $4,000 was raised at Ka’anapali alone to support the Wounded Warrior Project, which will contribute towards BCG’s $1M goal for the 2015 event.
Ka’anapali PGA General Manager, Ed Kageyama comments, “This tournament is especially significant with the passing of Billy Casper earlier this year. As a company, we want to be sure to uphold Billy’s values and goals in supporting of our veterans and Ka’anapali is honored to be able to participate in this nationwide event.”
Eighty-five players participated today on the Kai Course in this 4-person team scramble. The team of Milton Martin, Rico Brazil, Gary Masich and Joy Calinan came in first with a score of net 56 (par 70). Second place at a net 59 was Fred Chung, John Bryant, Pedro Tapuro and Hiro Takenashi and third place at a net 60 was Ed Kageyama, Lisa Donlon and Jeff Moon.
The team who raised the most amount for the Wounded Warrior Project at $935 was a team of ladies that flew in from Oahu to participate in this annual event: Mary Aurio, Kathy Chambers, Phuong Susan Pierson and Soung Eom. Their donations had a very special meaning being that both Kathy Chambers and Phuong Susan Pierson are both retired Army Colonels who served almost 60 years between the two of them.
This year, Troon, ClubCorp and Toll Golf joined forces with BCG to make World’s Largest Golf Outing the biggest one-day celebration of golf and charity. Golfers registered in record numbers to raise awareness and funds for injured veterans, their families and caregivers. The event’s goal is to eclipse the $887,000 donated to Wounded Warrior Project in 2014, the largest single-day golf fundraiser ever.
